Cygnar Lists

In preparation for the league and because I have War Room now I've been updating all my Cygnar lists. Here they are in no particular order.


Caine1

Gunline. Stormwall in the middle with Arcane Shield, long gunners on the flanks. Caine upkeeps snipe on one unit of long gunners (maybe hot swapping if my opponent decides to sit 15" away) and gives out deadeyes. Has teleport so he can charge forward to feat and then run away again. There is always an assassination on the table with thunderstrike, especially against small based casters.

Gunline. Trying to include 35 point lists though they are much harder to build. The theme force does give me a significant discount which is great at lower points. I have snipe deadeye and blur so gunmages are pretty awesome, not quite as scary as the long gunners but they can push stuff out of zones. Assassination isn't off the table but it's much harder. I can assassinate a medium base though so that's something. 2 Hunters and a Defender will hopefully give me something against ARM.

When I started writing a list for Kara Sloan I saw deadeye but no snipe, refuge and her feat. The plan I came up with was simple. Refuge Kara, use Reinholdt to double shot and abuse deadeye. I want some knockdown for assassination potential and the Avenger is pretty good with her feat. Sea dogs put out a lot of shots, give me some scenario game and are difficult to remove. They are pretty good with deadeye. Gun mages are better but the sea dogs also give you melee and attrition options. Little bit scared of taking these lists against any armour at all. The pirate list is not a pure gunline but it does shoot a lot. The 35 point is an old school gunline.

This is a melee centric list that charges straight, who am I kidding its another gunline. Stormwall bosses the zone, thunderhead shoots then locomotions backwards. Once my opponent engages me Stormwall wades into their army with dark shroud and possibly the kiss of Lylyss as well to be P+S 22 or 24. Storm knights assist going to MAT 8 POW 12 weaponmasters against anything near Stormwall. I had a lot of trouble coming up with a Nemo1 list but I'm pretty happy with this one. This is the only arc node I have for attrition, all the other ones are in assassination lists and I feel I lose attrition potential in taking them.

Surprise! It's another gunline! Not sure about these. I'm relying pretty heavily on the covering fire templates to keep me out of trouble. Why the switch between Squire and Sylas? At 35 points I'm not upkeeping anything. At 50 full tilt is on Ol'Rowdy. The plan is pretty simple, put one of Stormwall's toes in the zone and gunline it up. Ol'Rowdy charges off and kills the biggest threat to Stormwall or sits back and menaces anything that comes up to my gunline. He doesn't need any focus and I don't have any to give him. If he can line up a charge though I can not cast Guided Fire and send him in and he'll kill anything. He's pretty scary looking with a 13" charge. I actually like Kraye better at 35 points, that's pretty rare but I think I can pretty easily remove anything that can kill a Stormwall and then just win.

Still trying to figure out what I can do with Nemo3, he has a lot of abilities but I don't think you can build for all of them. One thing that is obvious is that amount of assassination potential he has so that's what this is. This list will probably suck at attrition as I'm giving away 9 points by having an arc node and a Defender instead of a Hunter.

Unsure of this one. Feels like it needs upkeep removal. This is a gunline (what a twist!), stormwall toes into the zone and I shoot my opponent to hell as they come towards me. It's a lot of work to remove Stormwall and a Centurion. I think I might have too much heavy removal (though it'll be nice to just obliterate a heavy from 14" away), I'm also feeling that I should have some upkeep removal and Aiyana and Holt but points are tight.

I have played more Stryker2 more than any other Cygnar caster (except maybe Caine2). Happy with the 35 point list. The 50 point list is highly experimental, I new idea I had recently. I can't tell if it's genius or stupidity. The idea is that while Stryker is geared towards melee Cygnar is geared towards range, so I'll take a bunch of ranged stuff, shoot you to force you to come to me and then use my melee buffs to mop you up. It may just end up being a list that sucks both at shooting and at melee.

This is a skew list. I have a post where I talk about list types but it's not finished. Skew lists ask a question - can you deal with X? If not I win. Here the question is can you one round an ARM buffed Stormwall? If not I heal to full with Darius feat and then go berserk.

I'm leaving out the Haleys. I'd like some practice with Haley2 no arc node but I don't think I can subject anyone at the club to that kind of horrific torture.

    Seriously though, as good as stormwall is i was suprised to see it in virtually every list.

    1. If I had included Caine2 and Constance here there'd be two more without Stormwall but it would still be pretty Stormwall dominant. Nemo1 at 35 points doesn't have a Stormwall either (just too many ironclads). The thing about the Stormwall is it just solves so many problems and creates them for your opponent, I think you need to justify keeping it out rather than including it. In a tournament I would not take two Stormwall lists but I would also not take two lists without Stormwall.

    2. I'm using these lists as inspiration by the way. I don't like to copy peoples lists, as that feels almost like cheating. But I do like to see what people are playing. Got the NZ nationals coming up. Day one is two lists at 35, day 2-3 is 2 lists at 50. I've pledged to take 4 different casters, and hopefully not Siege (who I always play)

      In short, thanks for sharing your lists. Given me heaps to think about.
